What sizes do I actually need?
The set this tool generates: favicon.ico (16+32+48 in one file — browser tabs), apple-touch-icon.png (180 — iOS home screen), and 192/512 PNGs (Android and PWA installs). Upload them all to your site root, paste the HTML snippet, done.
What image should I start from?
A square image at least 512×512 with a simple, bold subject — favicons live at 16 pixels, where detail vanishes. Non-square images are center-cropped automatically. Check the tiny previews above: if you can't tell what it is at 16px, simplify.
Why a .ico file in 2026?
Compatibility tradition — browsers still request /favicon.ico by default, and it packs the three small sizes in one file. The generated one uses modern PNG-in-ICO encoding, supported everywhere that matters.
